You might be shocked to learn this, but we have a Friesian at our facility! This week I wanted to introduce you to Tiburon a.k.a.“Elvis”, our Friesian gelding. He’s a gentle giant and a favorite in the barn. Elvis came to us as a carriage horse almost three years ago and only knew how to trot. His trainer Lori has been working with him since coming here and look how far he’s come! Lori and Elvis are a fantastic team and he has learned so much with her. Elvis has the sweetest personality and welcomes any kind of pats and rubs. We’re really lucky to have such a great Friesian here. Maybe one day he’ll have his own solo in our show on the road!
In other news, our new baby “Barbana” is doing great! She’s warmed up to us and has learned that she LOVES belly rubs. I try to visit her once a day so that she gets used to being handled by humans. She’s becoming more independent while running around the pasture with her mom. She’s really curious about meeting the other mares in the neighboring pastures, and mom isn’t too happy about it! The next step to conquer with Barbana… the halter! She’s had it on once, but isn’t thrilled about it so far. She’s made it a game to try to rub the halter off onto mom!
